Sometimes you get excited.

The track season is nearing. Some say they've been waiting months for this season to arrive. I couldn't say I felt the same way. I missed Cross Country, and I wish it was year round, so I could keep running 5Ks! But I know that track will help me. Speed Speed Speed. Not a natural talented speeder, I have frustrations with doing speed work, although that seems counter-productive if you think about it. If it is not natural, all the more necessary speed work is!
My coach JASON is back! And I couldn't be happier. I know he will help me speed, because he is an expert.  A quote he once said, "It's not who can run the longest, it's who can run the fastest." Although, I'd like to say I could beat a fair amount of people in a 10K or a half marathon, that I wouldn't beat in a 800M, Jason is right. A person wins a race with the speed. The person who crosses the finish line FIRST. So here I go, ready for the track season. With goals. I am prepared to succeed. I wish for nothing else.
Also, thank you Jason for sharing me this video, it was inspiring, and it didn't hurt that it uses one of my favorite songs. :) click here!Joan Benoit winning marathon

Summer Running, Half training

There was a 4th of July Race today that went relatively well! It was on the same course as my Cross Country county race was, so that didn't bring back GOOD memories... at all. But I ran well for being tired from a long run yesterday.
Yesterday I ran a fun run with Jason, and it ended up being a little longer than we expected! Almost missed my ride to Ferndale because we went half hour longer than we wanted! It was through the logging roads by my house and it was a lot of fun... Today went well, and one of my track running partners beat me at the end, with her fast kick that she does well, and I DO NOT. I was really happy for her though, because I know she will enjoy cross country for the first time next year.
I have ran 39 miles the past 7 days, so that makes me happy. I am finally feeling up for some real mileage and feeling good and eating well. I am hoping to get some more 9 and 10 mile runs into my schedule and keep feeling good and running fast on Mondays.

Running a little behind...

I have lots to talk about.. so I will start with Wednesdays workout..
Wednesdays are my track "speed" days with John. This was the first time John had been able to run with me instead of with his bike. YAYYYYY JOHN!!!!!!!!!! (Had a hamstring injury, but is healing!) We ran 4 x 1 mile&1/4..(5 laps) equaling 5 miles, so same mileage as last week, but longer intervals of running. We averaged about 8 minute pace the whole time. Once getting a little sidetracked from talking about Marathons. :D

Wednesdays runs are usually some of my favorite. I have someone to run with me the entire time, and I feel very in control of my pace the whole time. I'm still amazed as to how your body just knows what to run and how you can come by each mile mark right at the pace you want.

My Coach, Amber, gave me some awesome running magazines to read, perfect for my plane ride! (even gave me a conversation starter with the person I sat by on the plane).

John and I talked a lot about marathon running, and the unrealisitc reality of training for one during Track season my senior year. I really want to do one before I graduate High School.. but wanting to be 18..? So we will see. There is Redwood Marathon which is at the end of Cross Country season every year.. but I won't be 18 by then..... Hmmm hmmm hmm.
